Spiritual jazz saxophone legend Pharoah Sanders has joined forces with Floating Points for a new album called Promises. Recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra, the nine-part work is the first new music from the 80-year-old jazz luminary in more than a decade. It’s out March 26 via Luaka Bop. Check out the album artwork by contemporary visual artist Julie Mehretu below, along with a trailer for the record featuring Sanders and Floating Points, aka Sam Shepherd. Last year, Parisian label Transversales Disques reissued some live material from Sanders as Live in Paris (1975). Floating Points’ most recent album was 2019’s Crush. Shepherd later remixed Caribou’s “Sister” and “Never Come Back.”

Porridge Radio have shared two new songs with Piglet, the project of Irish singer-songwriter/producer Charlie Loane. Listen to “Let’s Not Fight!” and “Strong Enough” below. Dawn Richard has announced her first LP for Merge Records. The album, Second Line: An Electro Revival, is out on April 30. The announcement comes with the music video for the record’s “Bussifame.” Watch Richard’s self-directed video below. In a press release, Richard called Second Line “a movement to bring pioneering Black women in electronic music to the forefront.” The record, according to the press release, follows Richard’s persona as King Creole, an “assassin of stereotypes, a Black girl from the South at a crossroads in her artistic career.” Regarding the album title, Richard said, “The definition of a second line in New Orleans is a celebration of someone’s homecoming.”…
